About Victors Value Investments

Founded in 2017, Victors Value Investments (VVI) is a selective undergraduate finance club at the Ross School of Business with over $20,000 in assets under management. We manage a diversified long-only portfolio of equity stakes, investing in publicly traded U.S. companies across 7 select sectors. To supplement our internal investment experience, we also host an annual stock pitch competition in the Tozzi Electronic Business & Finance Center at the Ross School of Business.

Our mission is to educate and develop cohorts of exceptional students who are interested in long-term, fundamentals-based investing. We aim to cultivate disciplined thinking, intellectual curiosity, and strong analytical judgment by teaching how to evaluate businesses from the ground up.

VVI was founded to give students practical exposure to investing beyond theory. We believe that strong investors are built through process, patience, and rigorous analysis.

  • VVI is dedicated to professional and personal development. Every new member obtains a host of informal mentors through our executive board members, sector heads, and committee heads. Additionally, members are paired with a dedicated formal mentor during their first semester and a successful upperclassman recruiting mentor going into sophomore year.

  • New members embark on a semester-long education with our VPs of Education. The education consists of a final capstone pitch project, teach-ins, presentations from other upperclassmen, and weekly classes. Members receive hands-on training on accounting, investing fundamentals, capital markets, financial modeling, valuation, and macro-economic analysis.

  • Finance bootcamp is an optional rigorous year-long program for members recruiting for both sell-side and buy-side roles in financial services. Our VPs of Professional Development teach advanced financial concepts, train networking skills, host structured mock interview sessions, and provide extensive interview preparation prior to recruitment.

  • We work at some of the world’s most respected companies spanning across investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, equity research, management consulting, computer science, engineering, law, medicine, and more. Our alumni often provide feedback and assistance to current members recruiting for these roles. View select firms we work at here.

Professional Training

The goal of the organization is to help our members secure competitive internships or full-time analyst positions and to prepare our members for a career in finance.

We accomplish this through a five-part strategy:

1. An educational lecture series covering investing concepts, financial accounting, capital markets, valuation, and financial modeling.

2. A two-year investment fund experience where analysts generate 5+ investment decks with supporting financial models on equities.

3. A required year-long stint on our investment committee for new analysts, covering risk assessment and portfolio management.

4. Career guidance with resume reviews, intensive recruiting prep, mock interviews, and a formal two-part private mentorship program.

5. An event series with private recruiting events, guest speakers, and workshops with industry professionals and alumni.

Membership In VVI

VVI is open to University of Michigan undergraduate students from all academic backgrounds and is highly complementary to membership in other business organizations at the Ross School. We currently have active members in LSA, CoE, SEAS, and Ross.

In an effort to improve opportunities for members and other Michigan students interested in finance, we invite a panel of industry-leading judges to campus in the Fall for our annual VVI Stock Pitch Competition. Historically, we have offered internship opportunities at reputable equity research firms to winning teams.

We routinely host private recruiting events for our members with investment banks and value-oriented hedge funds. Sophomore analysts are given the opportunity to participate in our annual multi-day trek to New York City, visiting 15+ top investment banks and buy-side institutions where our alumni work.
